The banking network in Greece is quite extensive and well organised. There are 26 private or state-owned Greek banks with many branches, and 24 foreign banks with headquarters in Athens and possibly a few branches as well.
Most banks have installed automatic teller machines (ATM’s) in their branches to offer 24 hour service and they accept all cards. Some of these banks have also installed Automatic Exchange machines (AEM’s).
