House Maleme (110sqm) is an attractive newly restored small house dating from the turn of the century. With simple traditional furnishing, it has a really relaxed summer cottage atmosphere and it is an easy walk of 130 metres to the long shingle and sand beach. Built on two floors in traditional Cretan style, the house is one of a small cluster of local houses on the edge of the village of Maleme, 17 km west of Chania.

The 3-bedroom house is suitable for 6-8 people. A pretty front patio leads to the front door and straight into a spacious living room with beamed ceiling. This is simply furnished with 2 sofas, TV, dining table and chairs, and an air conditioning unit. There is a good sized separate kitchen, with open doorway, 2 steps down from the living room. A door leads out to the front patio. There are two bedrooms, and a bathroom with sliding door, and washing machine, on the ground floor, all leading off the living room. One bedroom has a double bed and is en suite with sliding door to a shower/WC, while the other bedroom has twin beds. A narrow spiral staircase leads up to the third bedroom with sloping beamed ceiling, twin beds, and air conditioning (included in the price). Across the little hall from the bedroom, there is a large sun terrace with balcony furniture and restricted sea views.

In the enclosed gardens to the rear of the house there is a 30sqm swimming pool with a 6sqm children’s end. A tall bamboo fence provides attractive screening from the neighbouring buildings, and the fields beyond, although the pool can be partially overlooked on one side. There are pool sun terraces with patio furniture, a shower and sun beds and umbrellas, and there are narrow grassed areas to one side of the house.

The nearest taverna can be found approx. 30 metres away at the end of the lane leading to the house, and further tavernas, a bakery, mini markets and cafes are only 100-200 metres away. This house offers one a nice natural position close to the sea.
