The
first thing to say about this lovely house is that it is surrounded
by a spectacular and well-tended garden with a great variety of
flowers and terracotta pots. Villa Apopsis sits within 685 sqm of
enclosed grounds, a mere 400 m away from the beautiful sandy beach
of the village of Stavros, approximately 14 km away from Chania
town and 7 km from the airport. In the shady garden you can relax
in peace and quiet among the flowers, or prepare supper on the barbecue
for a romantic meal.
The single
storey house has a living area of approximately 72 sqm and is suitable
for 4-5 people. It is built in traditional style
with wood and stone with lots of ornaments and decorative features
in bronze and copper. It has a homely decorated open plan living/dining
room with a stone floor, and built in sofas, one of which can be
used as a sofa bed. Further there is a TV, video recorder (VHS)
and a stereo / radio / tape-recorder. A breakfast bar with stools
separates the living area from the small, fully equipped corner-kitchenette
with full size cooker, fridge/freezer, coffee-maker, electric kettle
and blender. The kitchen has its own door leading to the barbecue
area in the garden. The master bedroom has a built in double bed
and there is a further bedroom with built in twin beds, desk and
built in wardrobe. The bathroom is equipped with a bath tub, WC
and a washing machine. There is air conditioning available in all
rooms, at an additional local charge. The front terrace and the
partially covered seating areas in the garden are perfect for relaxing.
The roof terrace can be reached via an external staircase and offers
lovely views of the sea and of ‘Zorbas mountain’. There
are comfortable seating areas with sun loungers and umbrellas, and
a couple of outdoor showers, in the garden, while the barbecue area
has a traditional stone built oven and a sink. To add to the charm
there is also an old well, and in one corner of the garden the owner
keeps a cage with parrots.
The
nearest mini market, taverna and bus stop can all be found approximately
50m away and there is a further selection of tavernas and cafes
within approximately 400m distance.
The Akrotiri peninsula offers a wide variety of beautiful beaches.
This is an ideal spot for country lovers and for those seeking a
quiet holiday in a traditional house, close to the sea. Car hire
is recommended and there is a garage available within the grounds
of the villa.
